On July 1st, CHAOS RECORDS will reissue CHASMDWELLER’s titanic third album, Flesh Crusade, on CD and vinyl LP (early 2023) formats.
Hailing from Toronto, Canada’s CHASMDWELLER are a two-man death-doom band who’ve been incredibly active since their formation in 2019. With both members prolific in a number of bands that span the extreme metal spectrum – among them, Malgöth and Anguish – as CHASMDWELLER, they’ve been releasing skullcrushing music at a devastating pace. To date, they’ve released three albums, four EPs, a demo, and a couple sings…and they show no signs of slowing down.
Originally self-released in 2021, CHASMDWELLER’s third album, Flesh Crusade, is perhaps the apotheosis of the band’s grimy ‘n’ gutted sound. Megaton heavy, swarmingly monolithic, and yet exceptionally sharp despite the lethal doses of bass underpinning their tanktread movement, Flesh Crusade is doomed-out DEATH METAL for those who want movement in their doom-death. Meaning, CHASMDWELLER don’t just muck about at a slo-mo pace, waiting for something (likely boredom) to happen; rather, the DOOM here is the sensation that envelops their alternately surging/swirling onslaught. Imagine a mercilessly hammering amalgam of early Grave and prime Naked Whipper: this is Flesh Crusade.
CHASMDWELLER’s editions of the album were extremely limited, and now CHAOS RECORDS steps forward to reissue it on both CD and vinyl. Prepare for the Flesh Crusade!
